Wellsford is the host school of two Experienced Specialist teachers who work as RTLB’s with 8 schools in the Rodney and Kaipara Districts. RTLB provide itinerant specialist support to students and their teachers, in order to improve the educational outcomes for Year 0-10 students with moderate learning or behaviour difficulties.
Sometimes children place extra challenges on teachers because their learning or behaviour requires specialist support. Referrals to RTLB are made by schools through a referral process when a student needs RTLB intervention. The RTLB works closely with the school, families and other agencies to help implement systems and practises that will benefit these children.
RTLB’s see that working closely with parents, teachers and schools helps to create a supportive environment that assists the child to respond more effectively.
